Alessio Brown

Dr. Alessio J.G. Brown
Director of the Global Labor Organization (GLO)

He is Honorary Professor in Labour and Macroeconomics at Maastricht University and Co-Director of the Centre for Population, Development and Labour Economics (POP) at UNU-MERIT. Previously he has held various research and management positions at the Institute for the Study of Labor (IZA), the World Bank and the Kiel Institute for the World Economy.

Francesco Della Puppa

Francesco Della Puppa
Postdoctoral Research Fellow at the University of Padova

He is Postdoctoral Research Fellow in Sociology at the University of Padova, he is member of both the Laboratory for Social Research and the Master program on Migrations and Social Transformations at the Ca’ Foscari University in Venice. He is also visiting Fellow at the Sussex Centre for Migration Research and the School of Global Studies at the University of Sussex.

Tom Law

Tom Law
Director of Campaigns and Communications of the Ethical Journalism Network

FHe joined the Ethical Journalism Network in December 2015 to lead several international media ethics campaigns with a focus on challenging hate speech, migration reporting and more. Prior to joining the EJN, he worked as a freelance journalist specialising in covering Sudan and South Sudan and collaborating with the Sudan Tribune, the SIHA Network ad Childreach International.

Irene Peano

Irene Peano
Postdoctoral Research Fellow at the University of Lisbon

Irene Peano trained as an anthropologist at the University of Cambridge. She is currently a post-doctoral fellow at the Institute of Social Sciences, University of Lisbon. She has previously held post-doctoral positions at the University of Bologna and at the University of Bucharest.

Yvonne Giesing

Yvonne Giesing
Postdoctoral Fellow at the Leibniz Institute for Economic Research at the University of Munich

She is a Postdoctoral Researcher and Economist at the Leibniz Institute in Munich. Her research focuses on the economic effects of migration in source and destination countries with a focus on the integration of refugees. Previously, she has completed her PhD at the University of Munich and worked at the OECD in Paris.

Bernd Parusel

Bernd Parusel
Expert at the Swedish Migration Agency and at the European Migration Network

Dr. Bernd Parusel is a migration expert at the Swedish Migration Agency. He is responsible for studies and reports in the framework of the European Migration Network (EMN). He also served in research-related positions at the Swedish Migration Studies Delegation (DELMI), the Federal Office for Migration and Refugees in Germany and as a lecturer at the University of Erlangen-Nürnberg.

Raúl Martínez Corcuera

Dr. Raúl Martínez Corcuera
Lecturer at the Universitat de Vic – Barcelona; Researcher at the LMI research group

He is Lecturer on media studies at the Universitat de Vic; member of Learning, Media and Social Interactions (LMI) Research Group . He is also visiting Researcher at the Centre for Advanced Studies on Consumption and Communication at the Università di Bologna. His research focuses on participation and representation of ethnic minorities and hate speech in the media.

Giulia Falzoi

Giulia Falzoi
Programme Officer at the International Organization for Migration

Giulia Falzoi has been serving in IOM for over 30 years during which she has been developing and managing projects and programmes in several areas of activity of the Organisation such as counter-trafficking and assistance to vulnerable groups, assisted voluntary return and reintegration, cultural orientation and labour migration schemes, and others; since over a decade she provides technical support to the Italian Government on migration management, in Italy and the Mediterranean sub-region, in line with the national legislation, EU Migration policies and legal framework, according to the IOM expertise in relevant services areas.

Vincenzo Spigonardo

Vincenzo Spigonardo
Etnopsychiatry and Cultural Consultation Service Coordinator, “Villa Colli” Hospital

In the past ten years, he has conducted clinical research on cultural psychiatry and cultural competence at the McGill University and at the Department of Mental Health in Bologna and he has organized international conferences on Trauma, Cultural Competence, Religion and Mental Health.

Annalisa Maitilasso

Annalisa Maitilasso
Postdoctoral researcher at the Institute of Development and Cooperation, Complutense University of Madrid (IUDC –UCM)

She has recently completed a PhD at the Ecole des Hautes Etudes en Sciences Sociales in Paris. Her research focuses on return migration and transnational mobility from an anthropological perspective. She is currently investigating the link between economic crisis and circulation of migrants, with a focus on the case of Malian migrants. At present, she collaborates with the Institute of Development and Cooperation at the Complutense University of Madrid.

Paolo Ballarin

Professional pyschotherapist, self employed since 2000, trained in the treatment of traumatic experiences. Specialised, since 1999, in interculutral pyschology and pyschotherapy, and works, in particular, in the field of projects aimed at refugees and asylum seekers. Supervisor and advisor for public and private corporations.
